According to the Consumer Sentinel Network Database, college-aged adults are most prone to becoming the victims of identity theft. One reason is linked to the fact that college-aged adults are very active online, making them inevitably more vulnerable. Also, people in their 20’s are usually targeted because they have good credit scores and a clean record.

According to the Federal Trade Commission, Texas ranked fifth in the nation for reported cases of identity theft last year.

One way to protect yourself when online is to only enter information on sites that have an “https://” address. The “s” stands for “secure” so you can better ensure your information won’t be leaked.
