If I miss a car payment, will the lender repossess my car?

If you begin missing payments on your car loan and fail to make alternative arrangements with the lender, they can repossess the car without warning at any time. However, most lenders are more interested in getting payments than going through the hassle of repossession and an auction. It is likely that they will be amenable to an alternate agreement such as deferring a couple of payments and adding them to the end. Be sure to contact your lender well ahead of time if you think you may miss a payment.
